Living Our Faith

“Journeying Together in Hope”

St. Peter’s College is a Catholic school in the Parish of St. Agatha’s located in the Diocese of Sale.

Our College is Christ centred with the Gospel values underpinning all that we do here at the College. We recognise the dignity of each person and provide a caring and supportive environment for each student to develop to their full potential. The College provides education in faith, spirituality and service.

Our formal Religious Education in Years 7 - 10 follows the Diocesan Guidelines, “Journeying Together in Hope” with all units focussing on specific doctrinal concepts. These guidelines are firmly founded in the Gospels and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Students are given the opportunities to reflect upon and respond to the presence of God in their lives and the world in which they live. In VCE, students can choose between the VCE subject Religion and Society and Youth Ministry.

St. Peter’s College has a responsibility not only to teach our students about faith but also to enable them to experience a living faith. Consequently, the College offers a variety of Liturgical experiences for its students, staff and wider community to participate in and to celebrate together. We are fortunate at the College to have the regular presence of the priests of the Parish of Cranbourne. The College recognises that not all students are at the same stage in their journey in faith but all students are encouraged to participate in these Liturgical Services and further develop their relationship with God.

In addition, students are given opportunities to live out their faith through various Social Justice activities linked to groups such as the Bishop’s Family Foundation, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Caritas, Ozanam House and the Soup Vans. The Year 10 and 11 CSYMA (Youth Ministry) classes often lead many of these activities. This enables students to make the Gospel values real and reach out to those in need.

Our College is named after St. Peter the Apostle. His example of Servant Leadership is lived out throughout the whole school. Our College Leaders are called to follow St. Peter’s example and be of service to others. Each year a Liturgy Captain and a Social Justice Captain are appointed at both the West and East Campus to help lead our student body into the service of others.
